Eleanor Albanese

I began my artistic career in the 1980's as an actress, touring small northern towns offering mask and clown performances. Since then, I've moved into playwriting, community-engaged arts practices, and writing both fiction and non-fiction. When I look back, I see that I have always been drawn to stories that resonate with another era or stories of intergenerational friendships. I gravitate towards beautifully written and illustrated children's books (Hans Christian Anderson and Oscar Wilde); costumes and fabrics; accordions and pianos. My first inspiration has been and always will be my Italian-Irish family; my own six siblings, my parents, my grandmothers now passed on, my life partner, my three children, and four grandchildren. My hope is to encourage others to find what resonates for them, and to trust their own creative voices.
